Our Parks & Facilities

Created in 1946, the Princeton Park District maintains over 200 acres of parks, the Bureau County Metro Center, and the outdoor Alexander Swimming Pool.

The Bureau County Metro Center is a 50,000 square-foot recreation center with full size gymnasium; 25-yard indoor swimming pool with wading pool and observation balcony; racquetball courts; weight room; cardio-vascular room, elevated running/walking track above the gym; and locker rooms. A 40′ x 80′ multi-purpose room with adjacent kitchen provides the perfect setting for conventions, expositions, meetings, or wedding receptions.

Twelve acre Alexander Park has a 9-hole disc golf course, six tennis courts, outdoor pool, horseshoe pits, barbecue and picnic areas, shelter, restrooms, playground and sand volleyball. West Side Ball Park provides 2 ball fields, restrooms, and concession stand. Zearing Park is a 72 acre park on the southeast corner of Princeton. You will find 3 ball fields, soccer fields, shelters, picnic and barbecue areas, sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, playground, and concession stand. Zearing Park is also the site of a pond, walking path, and outdoor soccer complex. City County Park is a 65-acre shady setting for trails, barbecue areas, log cabin shelter, playground, ball field, and restrooms.

Princeton Park District Reminds Public: Permits Required for Organized Activities

The Princeton Park District kindly reminds all community members, groups, and event organizers that any organized activity held within park district properties must have the appropriate permit in place.

This includes—but is not limited to—gatherings, tournaments, fundraisers, group fitness and/or classes, and any event that is advertised publicly or privately. Overnight camping is not allowed in any park district park.  Activities held at any Princeton Park District parks without an approved permit may be subject to cancellation or enforcement actions. We truly value the vibrant community spirit that brings people together in our parks. At the same time, we ask for your cooperation in following this important guideline.

To learn more about the permitting process or to apply, please contact the Princeton Park District office 815.872.0840.  Let’s continue to make our parks welcoming and well-managed spaces for everyone.
